RideSentinel: ride-offer verdicts for Uber drivers on Android

RideSentinel is an Android app for rideshare drivers, made by bidew.io in Québec, Canada. It reads each Uber Driver ride offer on the phone, checks it against rules the driver sets and gives a verdict, TAKE or PASS, with the reason in plain words.

How it works

The app reads the offer card through Android accessibility: the fare, the pickup and trip distances and the area. When the text of a card cannot be read, it reads a screenshot of the card on the phone and discards the image at once.

It works out what the offer really pays per hour and per kilometre and checks the driver’s floors: the minimum fare, $/hour, $/km and the longest pickup they accept; Pro also weighs the areas where they do not want to be stranded. It is tuned for ten Uber markets: Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, France, Spain, Germany, Brazil, Mexico and the United Arab Emirates.

Two apps: Lite and Pro

RideSentinel Lite. Free on Google Play. It reads each offer and shows the verdict, and it can never tap: its Android manifest declares canPerformGestures=false, so Android itself stops it. No account, no adverts.

RideSentinel Pro. An APK you download from this site, not from Google Play. It does everything Lite does and can also act for you: it taps Accept or decline only once you switch automatic taps on, and Uber’s driver terms prohibit that automation. While the public download is offered, you can try it free for 7 days, one trial per phone and no card needed. Pro is sold as a monthly or yearly subscription or a one-time lifetime licence, billed in Canadian dollars.

Privacy

Neither app asks you to create an account. What the app reads off the screen is processed on the phone and stays there. Some of it leaves the phone only for optional features you turn on yourself; the privacy policy lists each one, what it sends and how long it is kept.
